I thought that it was about time that I finally update TicTastic as I really want to start using this platform more!
So here is some quick fire updates from my life:
- I am now 18 years old, navigating being a young adult and still ticcing along the way
- I finished school in the summer of 2024 and just about made it through my a levels – exams have never been my strong point! TS + Exams = not fun
- I am now in my first year at university – I am studying percussion at the Royal College of Music
- This means that I am now living in London – definitely a new adventure!
This new chapter in life is very exciting and with it a whole variety of new challenges arise too:
- Starting somewhere new meant that no one knew me or that I have TS (Tourette’s Syndrome)
- Living on my own meant having to navigate how to manage cooking for myself – Batch cooking has become my best friend! When my tics are too much for me to safely cook then ready meals have also been useful
- Living in London also means daily public transport – this has been something that I have definitely struggled with quite a lot on ticcy days. I am still getting used to the staring and every now and then unnecessary comments from members of the public but if anything it has just fuelled my motivation to continue advocating and educating about TS
- Navigating what information to tell employers and co-workers – I have started working in a concert hall as an usher and it being my first job, I have had to work out what I want to tell the people I work with
This is where I will be studying for the next four years of my life! 🎵🥁
Keep an eye out for much more to come!
